Salem, Oregon – The Marion County Sheriff’s Office is pleased to announce the release of our 2012 Canine calendars. These wall calendars feature photos of all of our canines and their handlers and are a perfect gift for that animal lover on your holiday shopping list. You may make suggested $15 donation for a calendar.

Max in Training
Our office has German Shepherds, Belgian Malinois and Labradors on the canine team. These dogs live with their handlers and work twelve hour shifts everyday to make our community safer and reduce the risk of injury to our deputies.
They are utilized on patrol to track suspects and conduct building and area searches, and they are extremely cost-efficient when used in this manner. Our narcotic-trained dogs detect drugs in vehicles and buildings and also help to protect the Jail from the infiltration of illegal drugs.
Specially bred and trained dogs cost the Office about $10,000 to purchase; plus there is additional training, upkeep and the occasional vet bill to pay. The money raised from the sale of our calendars helps to cover those costs.
If you’d like to make a donation to the canine program and receive a calendar, please go to this website: apps.co.marion.or.us/SO/K9UnitDonate/k9donate_paypal.htm
Calendars are also available at the Marion County Sheriff’s Office in the downtown courthouse building and the Petco store in the Keizer Station shopping center. The Office would also like to reconize and thank Photovision of Salem (www.photovisionprints.com/) for their contribution in printing these calendars.
