Fatal Traffic Crash – I5 North of Cottage Grove
Update: The deceased has been identified as Linda A. Scott, age 66, from Cottage Grove
Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers are continuing the investigation into Saturday morning’s single vehicle fatal traffic crash that occurred along Interstate 5 northbound lanes about five miles north of Cottage Grove. A 73-year old Cottage Grove woman died in the crash. Her name will be released this afternoon.
On February 18, 2012 at approximately 5:45 a.m. emergency responders and OSP were dispatched to a single vehicle rollover crash off the northbound lanes of Interstate 5 near milepost 181. Preliminary investigation indicates a 2006 Chrysler 300 driven by the victim was northbound when, for an unknown reason, it traveled off the right shoulder and overturned in a water-filled ditch. The adult female driver was pronounced deceased at the scene.
OSP troopers from the Springfield Area Command office are continuing the investigation. Trooper Andy Youngblood is the lead investigator.
South Lane Fire Department personnel assisted at the scene.
