Cascade Cardiology LLC Receives Accreditation by the ICAEL for Excellence in Patient Care and Diagnosis

Salem, Ore. – Cardiovascular diseases are the number one cause of death in the United States. On average, one American dies every 38 seconds of cardiovascular disease. The American Heart Association estimates that the direct and indirect cost for cardiovascular disease in the US for 2010 was $503.2 billion. Early detection of life threatening heart disorders is possible through the use of echocardiography procedures. While tests are helpful, there are many facets that contribute to an accurate diagnosis based on echocardiography (echo) testing. The skill of the provider, the equipment and knowledge of the interpreting physician are critical to quality patient testing.

Cascade Cardiology, LLC of Salem and Silverton has received accreditation in the area of adult Transthoracic by the ICAEL (The Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Echocardiography Laboratories). Accreditation means that Cascade has undergone a thorough review of its operational and technical components by a panel of experts. The ICAEL grants this widely respected accreditation only to those facilities found to be providing quality patient care in compliance with national standards, a comprehensive application process and review.

Partner in the practice, Kirk Walker, MD said, “This accreditation means a tremendous amount to our providers and to our practice. It confirms what we know about our staff; that we not only care deeply about our patients, but also provide them top notch care.”

Echocardiography is a painless test that uses sound waves to create pictures of your heart. This test gives your doctor information about the size and shape of your heart and how well your heart’s chambers and valves are working. In addition, a type of echo called Doppler ultrasound shows how well blood flows through the chambers and valves of your heart.
