North Santiam School District Budget Update no Cut Days no Layoffs all Programs Stay

North Santiam School District is presenting a proposed 2012-13 budget that continues to reflect the Board’s goal of building a stable and sustainable school system. This year’s budget will continue all programs, will lay off no employees, and will add teaching and classified staff in key positions to help improve our schools.

The budget supports the NSSD Board and Superintendent’s goal of as broad a program as possible for a full school year. The NSSD is one of very few districts in the state that will offer a full school year in the 2012-13 School Year.

The budget maintains a spending level that is focused on sustainability. In the spring of 2010-11, the district began a significant shift in the way it allocated dollars to provide for the best education possible under reduced funding conditions. A majority of those cuts are sustained in the 2012-13 proposed budget.

During 2011-12 NSSD began to provide a community after school program for our elementary and
middle school students. The proposed budget supports students and parents through the continuation of this program. The program’s goal is to provide after-school activities that enhance student learning in math and reading, as well as to engage students in physical activities.

We are proud to be in a position to provide our students with a full school year and with sustained programs for the 2012-13 school year.
