Fatal Traffic Crash – Highway 97 North of Klamath Falls

Oregon State Police (OSP) is continuing the investigation into Thursday morning’s single vehicle fatal traffic crash along Highway 97 about two miles north of Klamath Falls that resulted in the death of a 56-year old man. His name and residence information is withheld pending next of kin notification.

On June 21, 2012 at approximately 8:52 a.m., a 1978 Ford pickup driven by an adult male was southbound on Highway 97 near milepost 270 when it veered across the northbound lane, off the shoulder and into a ditch. The pickup crashed head-on into a concrete barrier and its driver was pronounced deceased at the scene.

OSP troopers from the Klamath Falls Area Command office are continuing the investigation and attempts to locate next of kin for notification. Trooper Sabrina Criswell is the lead investigator.

A medical emergency is being investigated as a possible contributing factor to the cause of the crash.

OSP was assisted at the scene by Klamath Falls Fire District 1 and ODOT.
