Law Enforcement for Youth’s 2012 Shop with a Cop program was held this morning at the South Salem Walmart. over a 3 hour shopping frenzy full of holiday Cheer nearly 100 Police Officers paired up with 441 children to shop for a holiday gift.
Our Shop with a Cop program is often viewed as an opportunity to brighten the holidays of children in need but each year it is clear that these children are brightening the holidays for the adults as well. This year was no different with the children who often selected gifts not just for themselves but to give to others, to the young girl who chose art supplies not because she wanted to be an artist, but so she could make nice Christmas cards to send to the families in Connecticut.
Law Enforcement for Youth wants to thank all of the volunteers that contributed to this event, all of the community members that made donations and to all the law enforcement agencies who participated. A special thanks to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Oregon State Police, Salem Police Department and Keizer Police Department who all have a representative on our Shop with a Cop coordination committee.
