Coast Guard, Oregon DEQ, Chevron Shipping, Others Conduct Large Oil Spill Drill in Astoria

ASTORIA, Ore. — The U.S. Coast Guard, Oregon Department of Environmental Quality, other state and local agencies, along with Chevron Shipping and numerous pollution response and salvage companies and organizations participated in a major drill in Astoria, Thursday, designed to prepare personnel for a coordinated response in the event of a large vessel collision, fire and oil spill in the Lower Columbia River Region.

Federal, Tribal, State, Local Partners Monitor Pacific Ocean For Reported Debris

SEATTLE — Federal, tribal, state and local partners are working closely to monitor waters off of Washington for a large dock that was reported drifting offshore on December 14. There has been no confirmation of the object and it has not been re-located since its initial report. The object is reported to be similar to a dock that beached in Oregon in July.

Coast Guard, Marine Corps League Make Final Push For Toys For Tots Campaign

Coast Guard, Army National Guard to Partner for Radiological/Chemical Hazard Training Exercise

ASTORIA, Ore. — Coast Guard Sector Columbia River’s Vessel Boarding Security Team and the Oregon Army National Guard 102nd Civil Support Team are scheduled to train together in Astoria this week to prepare for potential chemical and or radiation threats posed by vessels entering the Columbia River.
