A Two Alarm Combustible Metals Fire in Millersburg results in No Injuries

The Albany Fire Department responded to ATI Wah Chang, 1600 Old Salem RD NE, Building #123, in Millersburg at approximately 2:15 p.m. today to a report of an exterior combustible metals fire that was extending to a building. Firefighters arrived at the scene in about two minutes to find smoke coming from a one-story, 3,600 sq.ft., Zirconium sponge production building and observed several stainless steel containers of Zirconium sponge on fire inside. A second alarm was initiated about twelve minutes after the first arriving unit to have additional fire fighters respond to the scene due to the hazardous nature of the burning Zirconium; and, the potential for fire spread throughout the building.

9-1-1 Operators to Graduate from Oregon Public Safety Academy

The Oregon Public Safety Academy will graduate its 84th Basic Telecommunication Class on Friday, March 15, 2013. The graduation will begin at 11 am and will be held at the Academy in Salem. The class consists of public safety communications professionals from 9-1-1/emergency communications centers statewide.

Marion County Fire District #1 Ambulance Involved in Vehicle Accident

Salem, Ore – Late this afternoon, a Marion County Fire District #1 ambulance was involved in an accident with another car at the intersection of Cordon Road NE and Swegle Road NE. The ambulance was en route to a non-emergent medical call and did not have its lights and sirens activated. There was no patient in the back of the ambulance.
