Salem Coed Kickball League Team Registration Begins Monday

The City of Salem Public Works Department announces team registration for the 2013 Kickball League. Team representatives, coaches, or managers may pick up a Spring/Summer League Registration Packet at the City of Salem Public Works Department, 555 Liberty Street SE, Room 325, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (open during the lunch hour) or go to www.softballcityusa.com to print off the team registration packet.

Exciting news, baseball fans.   The Salem-Keizer Volcanoes, affiliate of the 2010 and 2012 World Series Champion San Francisco Giants, are pleased to announce the 8th ranked Oregon State Beavers are coming to Volcanoes Stadium to play the University of Portland Pilots on Wednesday, May 8th.   Game time is 5:30; gates open at 4:00.

WNBA All-Star Maya Moore Surprises Standout with Elite Honor

SPRINGFIELD, Ore., – In its 28(th) year of honoring the nation’s best high school athletes, The Gatorade Company, in collaboration with USA TODAY High School Sports, today announced Mercedes Russell of Springfield High School (Springfield, Ore.) as its 2012-13 Gatorade National Girls Basketball Player of the Year.  Russell was surprised with the news at school by WNBA champion and gold medalist Maya Moore, who earned the same distinction in 2007.

SALEM, ORE. — Willamette University senior guard Terrell Malley (Portland, OR/Roosevelt HS), who has excited Bearcats fans by making quick drives to the basket and by swishing 3-point shots for the last four seasons, has been named Honorable Mention All-Northwest Conference for the 2012-13 season. It is the second year in a row that Malley has earned Honorable Mention All-NWC recognition.

Mount Hood Ski Patrol is looking for recreation enthusiasts with a heart for volunteer work at our annual tryouts next month. We are searching for skiers and snowboarders of all skill levels who would like to join our 300+ volunteers in our dedication to providing quality rescue and emergency services on Mt. Hood starting the 2013-2014 season.
