The City of Salem Public Works Department announces team registration for the 2013 Kickball League. Team representatives, coaches, or managers may pick up a Spring/Summer League Registration Packet at the City of Salem Public Works Department, 555 Liberty Street SE, Room 325, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (open during the lunch hour) or go to www.softballcityusa.com to print off the team registration packet.

Senators Lace up their Sneakers to Celebrate National Walking Day

Salem, Ore. -  Lead the Way to National Walking Day will be held on Tuesday, April 2 to commemorate the third anniversary of Marion County’s  Health and Wellness Initiative, “I Love ME.”  Kicked off in 2010 by Senators Peter Courtney and Jackie Winters,  “I Love ME” challenges all Oregonians to make healthy lifestyle choices and commit to the 5-2-1-0 in 30 challenge:  Eat five servings of fruits and vegetables each day; reduce leisure time in front of a TV or computer screen to two hours or less a day;  spend one hour a day moving actively; and have zero sweetened drinks in your diet.

Salem Plaid Pantry Reward Offered For Robber

Salem, Ore. – An unidentified male entered the Plaid Pantry Store, 2505 State St, at about 4:00am Sunday morning, displayed a pistol, and demanded cash and cigarettes. The suspect managed to escape the area with a very small amount of money and a few cigarettes. No one was injured in the incident.

Two In Custody Following Attempt to Elude from Salem to Tualatin

Two people are in custody Thursday evening along Interstate 5 in the Tualatin area after an attempt to elude Oregon State Police (OSP) and Marion County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) in a stolen vehicle northbound on Interstate 5. The two unidentified Hispanic males were turned over to MCSO deputies for further investigation and consideration of charges.
