WOU Basketball Hosts Two Camps in December

MONMOUTH, Ore. – The Western Oregon men’s basketball program will host a pair of camps Dec. 20-22 for members of the local community. The camps will be broken into two sections with the Lil’ Ballers Camp designed for children kindergarten through the 4th grade and the Winter Skills Camp focusing on the children 5th grade through 8th grade. Both camps are open to girls and boys.

West Valley Hospital Adds Speech Therapy for Adults and Children

Dallas,Oregon – West Valley Hospital has hired speech pathologist Beverly St. John to provide speech therapy services. St. John evaluates and treats individuals with disorders that affect speech, language, swallowing, cognition and voice.

WOU Receives Nearly $2 Million in Grant From U.S. Dept. of Education for Project Spell

MONMOUTH – Western Oregon University has received a grant of nearly $1,915,069 million from the U.S. Department of Education for Project SPELL (Sustainable Practices for English Language Learners), which will support teacher training and improve classroom instruction for English language learners (ELL). This project is a collaboration between WOU and two school districts (Salem-Keizer and Woodburn). The project will reach almost 20 percent of the 65,410 ELL students in Oregon.

Western Oregon University Women’s Basketball Begins 5th Year of Adopt-A-Road

MONMOUTH, Ore. – Fifteen members of the Western Oregon University women’s basketball team and coaching staff showed their support for the Monmouth/Independence community by participating in the Polk County Adopt-A-Road program Saturday, October 1st. Saturday’s clean-up marks the fifth year the Wolves have participated in the program.

MONMOUTH, OREGON – Vicente Fox, the former president of Mexico, will speak at Western Oregon University (WOU) on October 20, 2011. Fox was the first opposition party candidate elected Mexico’s president in 90 years. Fox’s historic election in 2000 resulted in many economic and social reforms that dramatically increased the quality of life for millions of Mexican citizens. Fox will appear at WOU as the Dr. Arne S. Jensen Lectureship Series speaker for 2011. MAPS Credit Union is the 2011 title sponsor.

Wolves partner with Marion-Polk Food Share‏
